Helping you get the keys to your new home and a good deal on your mortgage...
Buying your new home is exciting. We know you can’t wait to move in. You’re looking at paint charts and think about where you will sit and have breakfast.
But we also know the path to your new front door includes saving for a deposit, comparing mortgager deals, paperwork and conversations you’ve never had before with estate agents, solicitors and mortgage lenders.
We’re here to make arriving at your new home easier. We will take you through the process step by step and once you’re in your new home we’ll still be here for you when its time to move to a new deal.

If you could swap roles with anyone for a day, who would it be?
Probably Ringo Starr, in the mid-1960s. I’d love to have experienced a day in the life of a Beatle and as he’s my least favourite, I’d love to swap with him, so I get to hang out with the other 3… no offence Ringo!
What is a fun fact about you?
I spent a year backpacking around the world in my early twenties. It opened my eyes to different ways of life and taught me that even the ability to travel is a privilege. I’ve been lucky enough to have visited over 35 countries and have plenty more on the list I’d still love to see!

We give you mortgage advice. Plain and simple.
We are mortgage experts.
We pride ourselves in our expertise in the mortgage market and our strong banking relationships ensure high success rates.
We are school friends who were reunited when Neezam applied for a job at the same mortgage brokerage Lee was working for. We had both been working in financial services for several years and often talked about what we would do if we created our own mortgage and protection brokerage.
We realised that we shared a vision and that our values were also very similar. We want to help people prepare for buying their own home, at a much earlier stage. We kept seeing the same issues which could have been avoided if homebuyers had been given the advice they needed, much sooner.
Buying a house is exciting! We love seeing people move into their dream home.
We’re Peterborough born and bred and wanted to help people in our home city. We created Rebus to give first time buyers the knowledge they need to get the keys to their own home, without falling into the same traps as many others.
*”Rebus” was our project name for our business while we were in the early stages of setting up. Lee came across ‘rebus’ when he was Googling Latin words and it stuck. It means ‘affairs’, as in, we will help you get your affairs in order!
Frequently Asked Questions
If you were going to buy a sandwich, would you go to a shop which only sold cheese sandwiches or would you go somewhere with a range of different fillings, which could also cater for vegans and provide gluten free options?
It’s the same when you are looking for a mortgage. You might need a specialist product or someone to guide you. Perhaps you are self-employed. We will help you find the mortgage most suited to your needs and give you all the information you need to make a decision. By asking us to find your mortgage deal, you are widening your options..
Your current mortgage is the one that suited you when you moved into your home. Now you are looking for a new property, or have found one, it’s a good time to look at whether it is still a good product for you. Interest rates change. Your income might have changed. So might your outgoings. What was right for you 12 months ago, 5 years ago, or even longer, may not be a good fit for you now.
Come and have a chat about your new home and your finances and we will see if we can save you money.
We always recommend regularly reviewing your mortgage. It could save you thousands of pounds. Come and have a chat with us and we will look at your options.
When you become a Rebus customer, for as long as you have got a mortgage we will be here to check your mortgage is working for you. We will contact you with plenty of time before your fixed rate ends to switch you over to a new deal either with the same lender or a more competitive one.
Yes we can. Sometimes your existing lender isn’t able to give you the mortgage you need. Don’t worry – we can help you find a more suitable lender for your circumstances. We will go through your finances with you and the details of your purchase and search an extensive panel of lenders on your behalf.
Remortgaging your property is a good opportunity to look at whether you could change your mortgage term. This is how many years it will take you to pay off your mortgage. You might want to extend it to reduce your monthly payments, or reduce it to pay your mortgage off more quickly and pay less interest. We will talk to you about the options and assess the affordability of this for you.
We know life doesn’t always go as planned…
Between us, we’ve wasted a degree, left a secure job to go backpacking for a year and tried one career path, only to find ourselves on another. These are things which some people would consider negative, but we know that this is all part of living your life.
Travelling the world was a lifetime ambition for Neezam. He visited to China, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and across mainland USA. It gave him valuable life experience and helped him to further develop his understanding of different cultures.
Lee achieved a computer science degree! Whilst at University, he was looking for a job and a friend who worked for a financial broker invited him to design their website. There wasn’t enough work to keep Lee occupied so he started reading the mortgage text books lying around the office. He got qualified and stayed on at the firm as a mortgage broker.
These things weren’t planned, but they haven’t stopped us buying our own home and have led us to running our own business together. So if there is something in your past you think might be a barrier or an issue on your credit report you need help working through, come and talk to us.
How we work...
Our team is available to talk online, on the phone, at our office, or at a location in Peterborough that suits you.
You will have a strategy conversation with us to begin with so that we know your circumstances.
You might have put an offer in on a property, you might be starting to save for a deposit, or your current mortgage might be coming to an end and you need to find a new deal. We’ll talk you through everything and answer any questions you have.
Then you will get an email letting you know exactly how much you can borrow, what the rates are, what your payments are going to be, and what fees you’ll need to budget for. We will also tell you what documents you need to supply. You will be able to upload these to our online portal where you can see everything about your mortgage application in one place.
We’ll also have a chat about how you will pay your mortgage if something happened to you or your income.
Once you’ve chosen a mortgage, your dedicated PA will keep you informed every step of the way about how your application is progressing. They will also check in with your solicitor to make sure your purchase is on track.
When your mortgage deal is coming to an end, we’ll be in touch to find you a new one so you are not paying more than you need to.
